There are many people who serve in a leadership capacity at Acorn CC - helping the various ministries and areas of the church to function effectively. We believe that it is a privilege to be called to lead within the body of Christ and we greatly value those who contribute in this way. Leadership is of course hard work and often involves sacrifice. The heart of leadership is to love people and to serve diligently with Jesus himself being the role model and example for any leader.

Acorn – Leadership Team
Acorn Community Church has an overall Leadership Team of 5 people who oversee and care for the church, as well as helping others to develop their own leadership skills.

Phil Glover (Minister)
Phil is married to Wendy and has recently stepped down from YFC North East after 22 years. They have two children – David & Amy; Wendy works in a secondary school teaching science and maths. Phil enjoys sleep, golf, Derby County and tea.

Chris Peacock
Chris is married to Susan; they both work in nursing and have been at the church since they married 25 years ago.  They both enjoy walking and Scotland; Chris’ is a keen motorcyclist, and relaxes by playing the Northumbrian small pipes. They have two children: James is 22, and Rachel is 20.

Colin Stanbury
Colin and Rhona have five children and five grandchildren, as well as an extended family of young people who have shared their home over the years. Colin works for the YMCA and Rhona with Deaf people. Together they support Deaf Churches in East Africa and like to travel; particularly where it is warm!

Julia Wilthew
Julia is married to Ray, has 2 grown up kids and is believed to be Acorn CC’s youngest looking Grandma! She loves to walk, preferably out in the countryside avoiding as many steep climbs as possible although she says the view is always worth it.  Julia loves curry, Jooles Holland & the Greek Islands.

There is also a Church Board, which meets quarterly and includes: Phil Glover (Chair), Julia Wilthew (Church Secretary), Roy Lemberger (Hon Treasurer), John Walker (Buildings Manager), Rev. George Laffey, Sheila Hodgson, John P Walker.
Church Administrator – Liz Davison
