Wednesdays 1015a.m – 12 Noon

Oasis is a midweek(Wednesday) daytime meeting which gives emphasis to the older (50 plus) people in the church, many of whom would prefer a daytime meeting to going out in the evening - although many are also involved in an evening Small Group. We meet from 10.15 am to 1pm including lunch.

‘Oasis’, encapsulates the vision of providing a place for rest, recuperation, refreshment and fellowship in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

We begin with an informal time of coffee and tea, and then move into a meeting with praise and worship, and ministry of the Word of God, either through preaching and teaching or discussion.

We end with sharing a packed lunch together and fellowship over a meal.  Occasionally we have a provided meal which everyone enjoys.

Each year in May, we have a midweek ‘weekend’ at Minsteracres Retreat Centre near Corbridge, when we mix informal times with worship and teaching sessions.  For some it is the only holiday of the year and it is much looked forward to.

During August we have coffee mornings in various homes instead of a meeting as well as local day trips. This year we have also had a coach trip to the Lake District, when people from other churches joined us.

Mission interest. The Oasis group also support our former Pastor & wife, Harold & Ruth Menzies, in their effective work in Ketali, Kenya. In recent times we have raised funds to help a family of orphaned children, and have bought 2 cows for their local dairy business project.
